It's that time of year again: November is National Novel Writer's Month.

The challenge is to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. If you win, you've now written a novel, and get a certificate. If you're proud of your work, you might edit it and start sending queries to publishing houses, become the next J.K. Rowling, or president of the United States.
But none of that matters, what matters is that it starts November 1st, and you have just these three weeks left in October to figure out what you're going to write about and make some notes.
Last year I wrote a delightfully ridiculous book titled, And That's Why I Built My Submarine. This year I want to do something more serious and gutsy.
