Taking StrongMad's advice, yesterday, I heartily besexed the darling Lankakitten. We seem to be having a sexual revolution of sorts over here in the Bellevue household. Her running out of birth control has somehow turned us into screwing monkeys.

It's quite nice. I didn't realize that we were in a rut until we left it way behind.

Also, after watching The House of...

I don't think you ever really realize that it's a rut until you experience something outside of it. wink
strongmad:
I think the "up" and "down" thing is universal, but maybe people who are on a coast don't have the over and out part. But if I'm going to Spokane I'm definitely going "over" to Spokane, and I think people go "out" somewhere west. At least growing up in the middle that's what we all called it.

And that's one hell of a revelation, mister.

I'm never so happy as when I'm on a mission. One of those people that can't multitask, write, or communicate with others well, real-life makes me frustrated and edgy. When I have a mission though, I can finally focus and plow through my target like a fucking atomic bomb. When I have a mission, I'm a greek god, a superhero, a transcedental being of purpose....

You know what frustrates me? When an otherwise great TV show suddenly has a shitty season finale.

It's like the writers have a good season started and they're having the characters deal with problems that come up in their lives, and some good character conflict is getting set up -- and then all of a sudden one of the writers screams, "We're on episode nine...

what i hate, is when perfectly good tv shows stop making shows because they want to go out on top.

i'm not saying they should all go a million seasons, and churn out crappy shows once the spark is gone, but... at least wait for some sign of the series heading south. i'm thinking of six feet under (which i just heard was ending) and sex in the city (which i'm still bitter about).

Remind me again why a blowjob from a stripper is an unfortunate coincidence.

Hey guess what -- and I'm not fucking joking here -- my boss hired HOTTEST FASHIONS as a supervisor.

Strongmad wrote in his journal recently:

Its funny, when I got to SG, I was surprised at how innocuous most of the journals were. To me, it was an opportunity to keep a true journal, you know? Work stuff out, be creative, leave a record of where you are at a particular point in time.

I've realized over the past couple years from keeping a...

I figure journals are supposed to be about getting to know people so the mundane entries are part of that. In real life I don't expect fireworks every time I have a conversation with somebody and I put a journal on the same level of importance or thought as bumping into a friend every day or two. I think if I had a camera, that would add a lot to my journal. Photos of mundane life can be quite charming. That reminds me - I liked the pics of the Half-Life 2 level you're creating. What are you using to make it?
cosyne:
That would definitely explain where all my pie is going....

For the past couple of weeks, I've been working on a level for half-life 2 multiplayer called dm_atlantis, it's a pyramid under the sea. I've put maybe 40 hours into it so far and it's starting to piss me off.

You should do a level that has a river made of booze.

wow, that looks really good.

I used to mess around with a lot of HL editing. never got as much done as it seems you have though.

Last night, cosyne, kramit1212, lankakitten, and I went to the opera (Orpheus in the Underworld.) It was surprisingly endearing and I learned something amazing, the song they sing during the Can-Can translates into:

My, isn't this a fantastic party?
It's nefarious! We're so drunk!
Let's all black out!

Well, it's from memory, I'm missing some parts, but in any case...

Futurama is awesome. I love it a lot. But I must say Venture Bros. is the best show on television.

Lankakitten and myself are playing Toowntown Online at the moment. It kicks ass. I dig the fishing game.

Apparently I can't spell Toontown right. Fuck it.
jesus_smash:
HA. At least you caught the spelling error. And buying into Disney propaganda, oh for shame... just kiddin man.

This morning I got up at 7AM and walked to 7-11 for a Monster energy drink. It was nice. On the way there, I passed nearly fifty joggers. They all seemed so amazingly old.

I'll have the pictures up from the World Barista Championship soon.

I gotta say - the UK guy, charming though he may have been, didn't give the best performance. Out of the competitors that we both saw, I would have to say that the South Korean dude was definitely the most badass. I wish I could have stayed for the Puerto Rican guy. I do love a good train wreck now and again. That's kind of an odd statement though -- the one concerning iced drinks -- you would think that cold beverages would be popular in a tropical climate. Anyway, kudos to you for getting the pics!
kramit1212:
Nice pics. Wish I could've seen more of the competition. Zoka did not actually donate the (super sexy) espresso machines. They were on loan from Espresso Specialists Inc, who is the exclusive importer of La Marzocco espresso machines (which happen to be, hands down, the best around). However, Zoka did purchase one of them, even though they are not yet available for retail. Right now it is sitting in storage at the roastery but if I can ever find time I'm gonna set it up and play with it.

I've had the chance to glance at the WBC judges manual. The judges are instructed to keep plain expressions throughout the presentation, especially when tasting drinks. The concern is that expressions can be misinterpereted as favoratism or prejudice. I think limited comunication between the judges and competetors is allowed during the presentation but it seems to be generally agreed upon that the judges just remain silent and stoic.

Probably more than you wanted to know but there ya go!

Enjoyed Cosyne's Thusday night one A.M. breakfast and Saturday's World Barista Championships. (I've been ruined, I don't think I'll ever drink a coffee beverage again.)

Pictures will follow sometime this week when I get around to cranking up the photoshop.
kramit1212:
You're not ruined, you just have good taste now. You'll just have to go to cosyne's work and have him make you a macchiato. In spite of the fact that he doesn't get to be on bar as much as he should, he's a rockin' barista.

I can't wait to see the pics, I was stuck working at our booth at the SCAA trade show across the street and didn't get to see much of the WBC.
