Ok.. Need advice lol My daughter is old enough now that i feel i should talk to her about birth control. I dont want to embarrass her ( or myself). Her mom only sees her twice a year and dont think it should wait that long since she has been seeing the same boy for a few months now. I dont even know how to start this conversation /facepalm. blush

Based on my experience with having a really sexually awkward father, I think that the most effective way for you to go about this is to just simply say, "How about we put you on birth control? I think you're a pretty mature girl, and it wouldn't hurt to be on it just in case".

Direct, but not pointing an accusing finger. If my dad would have said that when I was younger, it would have saved me a lot of awkward moments!

ooo thats rough. Just don't really ask what she is up to explicitly , just say i know people your age are starting to have sex and i want you to be safe. Are you trying to put her on the pill? or just trying to encourage condom use? I would give her a box of condoms definitely. I remember being a teenager and being mortified to buy some for the first time and I didn't really have money to get any most of the time. i depended on the guy to have one. I always carry my own now. You can't depend on guys. If the guy doesn't have one a lot of times they will try and talk the girl into not using one which is a bad situation totally. Ask her if she she is interested in the pill as well. But rubbers are important for use against stds.
