When I was a kid I remember going out to a place called "little mexico" with my dad, I would then watch in amazement as two or three complete strangers would pile into our cadillac and we would then drop them off at another complete strangers house where they would begin working their asses off. This was the wonderful (and illegal) world of hiring migrant workers from Mexico. My dad owns a landscaping company, and as I grew older and stronger I eventually began working alongside them under his thumb. Most of the guys he hires are really friendly and hard working people, and if your spanish is good enough (which mine isn't, especially considering i'm half Nicaraguan) you hear alot of interesting things. Most of them come here from Mexico, leaving their families behind so they can make as much money as they can in a short period of time and then bring it all back home...that still amazes me. My dad pays them much better then he pays me (only 10 an hour) and we ussually go out to lunch together. They're happy working for him and were happy as the jefe gueros, but I'm not really happy...BECAUSE LANDSCAPING SUCKS! Thankfully however, this coming month I'll have alot of stuff published in the magazine I write for, I just wish that alone could pay the bills.

Thank you, hon. I hear collar bones are not fun to break.
