I loved last night's Take Back the Night Rally and March. I helped with setting it up but really our wonderful President of Ordinary WOmen and also our Faculty Advisor did the most stressful jobs of all, making certain that we had a program, people to fill that program with, Deidra McCalla (who ROCKED) and just so many other wonderfull people there.

Melissa Divine gave the keynote speech that made me tear up and just want to bawl my eyes out it was that amazing and before that Shannon read her poem that was semi autobiographical and of course it started out sad and then ended with some uplifting words of encouragement. Naomi and her friend Kendra read amazing poems as well. The March and chanting were AMAZING!!!!!!! I mean, walking with all those women and hearing the power of our voices as they echoed off the walls of the buildings on campus and then down to the City Park was one of the most empowering and AWESOME things I have EVER been a part of. Last year I was a newcomer, this year I was a MEMBER of the whole thing. I LOVE my husband for his support but I LOVE the women who were there marching with me, chanting, shouting at the top of their lungs "this is what a feminist looks like" and "no more patriarchy no more rape" and "Wherever I go, whatever I wear, yes means yes and no means no" it was just awesome. My husband said last year walking beside us and cheering us on was great, but this year standing in the park and hearing our voices uplifted from so far away was awe-inspiring (his words).

When we arrived at the park Erin Erhart performed some of her amazing poetry and just made me think that maybe I was in love for a moment or a few hours tongue. Seriously, it was awesome. Deidra McCalla who was our main entertainer and presenter was awesome, her songs are simply some of the best music I have heard in the "folk genre." I loved it, some of us got up and danced to her music, while others of us (Chris) stood and watched. Needless to say, this is now one of the best and most empowering memories I will ever have.

P.S. WE STILL DO NOT KNOW WHO WILL BE NEXT YEAR'S PRESIDENT *ARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH*
