Bloomsday has come and gone.

I began at Martello Tower, or an impressive facsimile on the shore of Lake Erie. I observed the Davis-Bessie nuclear power plant from the confines of a nearby bird sanctuary. There is a cross-road there, at the sanctuary, where four corners of the map stretch as far as the eye can see. Long, narrow paths of mounded grass that allow the observer to traverse great lengths of wetlands lead to the North, South, East, and West. In the other four corners, vast blankets of treeless marsh. Standing at this intersection, I saw the steam of the cone cooling tower looming to the southeast. A row of ducks sauntered past. I took a photo. My godson was speechless.

By noon, I arrived at the clock tower to document the day. They change beds of flowers each day to mark the date of each day. I snap a dozen digitals of 12:00 noon on June 16, 2004.

A regrettable Chinese super buffet later, I find a bookstore and buy my godson three things: Gilberts Study, a volume of annotations, and the corrected text in paperback.

At 4:00, Im filming the skyline of Cleveland from the abandoned east side of Whiskey Island.

At 6:00, Im losing at volleyball.

At 8:30, Im listening to readings at Nighttown with a pint in my hand and my own Leopold in my left ear. The manager hands out prints of the flower clock.

At 12:00, Im gushing about evolution at Edisons. Its all about the fossil record. Either it is a deception or it is true. If its a deception, then its either one by an evil deceiver or a benevolent protector. I cant believe in an evil deceiver responsible for taunting us away from literal interpretations of the Bible. Equally, I cant believe that a benevolent protector would deceive us with red herrings as we explored our world he created for us. I cannot believe it is a conscious deception. Therefore, it must be true.

At 1:00 I climb into bed with Molly, changed and in love.
