I suppose I should update (it's been a month since I last did so). Hmm... where to begin. Just recovered from a nasty cold since I got back from visiting my cousin in Mailbu for two and half weeks. Strange place. It's kind of like Santa Cruz, but on steroids. It's very beautiful, but there's not much to do there but go to the beach or hob nob with rich people about their homes, cars, or latest money making "deal" there involved in. I wouldn't really even consider it a town... it's more like a ultra-wealthy community. A ridiculously long stretch of PCH with equally ridiculously lavish homes. I originally went down there to see my cousin who just recently got married and to look in to a job opportunity for a stem cell company she's involved with. In actuality I also just needed to get away for a little while to escape the living hell that my life has become this past year.
Before I left I decided to address some personal issues. Mainly, the fact that I have been profoundly depressed for the last 8 or 9 months. So depressed to the point that I was seriously considering just ending it all. I haven't felt like that for awhile (I've been there before when I was 21) but I didn't want to visit this "place" again. This time the feelings were much stronger and life seemed much bleaker and hopeless. So at the urging of a few friends and family members I decided to see my doctor. He prescribed the anti-depresant Effexor, so for the second time in my life I'm on an anti-depressant. I didn't want to do it again, but the depression was to overwhelming. I am feeling a little better, but I've always been concerned about the long term effects of these drugs. I guess I'll just have to have a "wait and see" attitude. At the moment I think being on something is the right thing to do.
Anyway... getting away just as I was begining my treatment turned out to be a good thing. I was in a beautiful place visiting family. I was keeping busy and exploring new job opportunities. I got to see Ministry which just kicked ass! I saw many beautiful girls, got really drunk and partied on Sunset a few nights until the wee hours of the morning. Ate many sandwhiches at my favorite Deli...Canters on Fairfax. Took my cousin's awesome dogs Harley and Pico to the beach, did a little shopping. Went for nice dinners. Had a picnic ant some rich guy's ranch/winery. He had zebra's, llamas, peacocks and horses all over the property. Very nice place. All in all a good trip.
I even met Emilio Estevez and Martin Sheen! lol My cousin warned me when I woke up... "Do you know who Emilio Estevez is?" I said, "yes". She went on to say... "well he's coming over to borrow a wine press and then we're going to breakfast with him and his dad Martin, so don't flip out". I replied.. "If you said we were going to meet Angelina Jolie for breakfast then I would flip out, Emilio Estevez I can handle". I was more excited to meet Martin Sheen because of Apocalpse Now. I think my cousin was worried I would go in to "movie nerd mode" and start quoting lines from the movie or maybe I'd try to reinact the "cheesy" dance moves Emilio did in The Breakfast Club lol. I did neither. The two of them couldn't have been more nice or humble. They asked me more questions about myself than I did of them. They were both really kind and down to earth people. Which was really nice to see first hand. I guess Charlie really is the bad one. So that was my little Hollywood fantasy world for a few weeks. I'll put some pics up soon.
Next up: (V)arilyn fucking (V)anson at the Warfield in San Francisco. I saw him this time last year at the Greek Theatre at Griffith park in Hollywood. Good show. Can't wait to see them again. A lot of people talk shit about Manson because he's become more popular and commercial over the years. But the fact is: He's got the greatest show on earth. He does it the way it should be done. A perfect melange' of goth-metal and industrial with a lot of art and fashion thrown in for good measure. Nobody in recent memory has really tied all these elements of music and visual art together as well as he has. Sure... he rapes David Bowie and KISS's ass big time, but he brings his own edge, personality and contemporary style to the whole thing. Love em' or hate em', you cannot deny the power of this band... especially live. I don't care how commercial they have become or how many "obvious" covers they do. They simply kick MAJOR ASS.

I love my I-pod too. I just put it on random a sit back to see what it does.

Yes, this little guy has the long ears with the tufts. He's from a wild Jungle father, and a mother who's Jungle mixed with Abyssinian. I got him from a (wild and endangered) big cat sanctuary called Isis Oasis. (www.isisoasis.org)
