Time to VENT... I just listened to excerpts from the Enron tapes the other night concerning the de-regulation of power in California, and the resulting rate hikes fiasco that it led to a couple years ago. We all already knew how these fuckers bilked everyone in this state for months and jacked up our electric bills to previously unheard of rates. But, it's one thing to read in the paper or listen to reports on the news. It's a totally different thing to actually listen to comments in taped conversations of these assholes saying things like: "This whole thing is going to come crashing down on California, oh well fuck em", or "This is unbelievable California is getting screwed, we are so screwing them over, poor bastards", and "Your making me feel corrupt.. no, it's just marketing sweety". Needless to say... in a world where we now have our own corrupt elections (just like Iraq where Saddam always got 99.9 % of the vote, oh the irony) this shit is very disturbing to think about. How big corporations can do pretty much whatever they want in the name of chasing the almighty dollar (Where's MY FUCKING REFUND ENRON?). Ofcourse, this nothing really new.. for years these corporations have always tried to find ways to "skim" off the top. But, the scale of which this has occurred I think is unprecedented. At least in the old days they tried to do it behind our backs. I guess that thrill has gone, because now it's almost pornagraphic. The current feeling I get is "let's just fuck people over right in front of their faces, and see how much we can get away with". Very exhibitionist. I can't help but giggle when they finally get caught. It's not even mainstream porn... it's extreme porn. Sick perhaps (depending on who you are), and nothng is left to the imagination, that's the analogy I like to draw. I guess rules or laws never have applied to people at the top. I personally have never had much faith in Politics, Politicians, or our Government (and certainly not corporations). Over decades our system has become so bloated and bogged down in beauracratic shit that we can't even wipe our own collective asses, so instead we go out and kick someone elses. Then we raise our soiled flag. It would be nice if we took care of our own problems here before we flex our muscles elsewhere (I know this has been said before but I'm saying it again because no one seems to care). The same thing is going on with gas prices right now. Even the wealthy complain about inflated gas prices, at least they can cut out couple extra latte's at Starbucks each week to make up the difference, but what about the poor? Maybe they can just go without food, toothpaste, or a visit to the doctor when they're sick. I dunno who cares, right? They're already poor, they're used to it, they won't miss anything. Seems to be the attitude the "haves" have toward the "have nots". But, the truth is most of us are caught somewhere inbetween, and the scale can easily tip the wrong direction if we're not careful. I guess my point is KEEP YOUR EYE ON YOUR MONEY and fight back and make your voice be heard when you see or are subjected to injustice (especially on this level). Because the people who run this country right now don't give a shit about you. I'd like to end this little rant by concluding with a big FUCK YOU to our Vice President Dick Cheney (former Halliburton Excutive) and kenneth Lay (Enron Exec). You knew exactly what was going on you fucking short-fingered vulgarians. You are evil men, and that pacemaker of yours keeps your heart going Dick Cheney because you really don't have a heart. You are both cowards. The End of the Bush administration hopefully is near. I'm embarrassed to be an American because of things like this. Maybe I will move to Greece. Ha! I heard an author (his name escapes me at the moment) say on the John Stewart show that the rest of the world looks at us like we look at Beverly Hills, well put comment. The current mood this has put me in is: Disgruntled and Postal. I think my next rant will concern the never ending topic of file sharing, yet another argument that pisses me off. Until then....
