I need help my brothers, my sisters, my blood
I have a difficult decision to make
I need advice from you all
I have two jobs currently, I'm a state police officer at a juvenile treatment center (prison)
I also work at Hot Topic
I've been having some troubles at HT lately, people acting dumb over little stuff
Bosses getting bent out of shape because i dont rely on HT to pay my bills like they do
Don't get me wrong, i love the store, the company, and the people i work with
I'm just not going to deal with any drama i don't have to
Its a retail job, how can i take that super seriously when i literally fight for a living at my main job?
I was told tonight I am in hot water as far as the store goes, im being put on a 90 day probation
This same day i was placed on said probation i recieved an email from my POS stating that we are going into a critical phase at the facility and that we will probably be mandatory overtime on at least one of our scheduled days off, meaning we will only get one day off a week
One of my two days off from the facility is the day i work at HT
So my choices are, continue to work at HT without a single day off for no telling how long, probably months
Just quit HT all together
Try to explain the situation to my HT manager and hope she will give me a few weeks off
I don't see the last option working because the management are constantly throwing it in my face that they have worked with me before on schedule issues because of my other job, but they do that with everyone that is a part time employee, they have to work around school, athletics, plays, chiors and everything or anything else.
They complain that everyone uses HT just for the discount and that the part time staff don't consider it a career possibility. I wonder why? Who can afford to set around hoping to work 3-10 hours a week for minimum wage praying to god they move up in the company? The only people that can afford to live on that are in high school, seriously.
Anyway, enough of my ranting, no matter how much i complain i still love the job, the store, the people. I just don't think i can go until thanksgiving without a day off ya know. This really sucks because the thought of quitting HT is heart-breaking for some reason and i dunno why lol
anyway, advice please, im begging ya

i'd say, since you love it, do what you can to keep it... but if they give you crap it may not be worth it.
