Southern Culture On The Skids - see 'em!
Our planet is the insane asylum of the universe.
Quote of the week:
"Today there is a wide measure of agreement, which on the physical side of science approaches almost to unanimity, that the stream of knowledge is heading towards a non-mechanical reality; the universe begins to look more like a great thought than a great machine."
Sir James Jeans

you said it in erin's journal.
i love that description of hollywood: "high school with money." i you can replace "money" with other nouns and get a description of pretty much every life situation you'll encounter.

i was falling asleep toward the very end (it was late), so i'm saving it for today. caetano veloso is the guy in "talk to her," right. if so, i completely agree: one of the most beautiful things i've ever heard also--i was hypnotized by that song.
haven't seen the goldsworthy film yet, but i will, for sure.

What a great day!
What is it - that something that's just beyond, elusively tangible, never fully evident but omnipresent?
So there was this country whose leaders got into power by rigging their election, created a phony "enemy" to justify expanding their military, co-opted most of the press, ignored international law, alienated their allies, created wars for their own enrichment, created laws to enrich those who support them, believed any means justified their ends, including the imprisonment or murder of unarmed civiilians of any age,...

when you were my age...
you believed the history you were taught;
you were more concerned with yourself than anyone else, no matter what you said;
you saw only open road ahead of you;
you were obsessed by theories;
you were ignorant of realities;
you took games seriously;
you thought looking different meant you were different;
you had a lot to learn.

Film tip: go check out Spring Summer Fall Winter ... and Spring.
How disappointing to discover that someone you admired for her supposed political awareness and concern for the larger issues in the world, is in reality self-obsessed, air-headed, overwhelmingly boring, and staggeringly shallow.
Just checked out Sasha's archived sets. Anyone else notice how much sexier, tougher, and uncompromised the "original" SG's are than most of the current ones?
morgan:
dude, insulting SGs isn't going to get you any brownie points with me. I'm understanding of why my set was rejected, I don't see why you wouldn't be.
And how, exactly,d o you think you can tell that old school SGs were "tougher" or more "uncompromised"? Did you know them all personally? Or are you just shallow and judging them by looks?

Morgan - much as I enjoy your journals and sets, I have no interest in getting brownie points from you. I just think lots of the recent sets are lame. As for the "old school" SG's - it's in the sets and in the journals. Or are you suggesting it's all b.s.?
Thank God for Morgan, Mary, Erin, Siren and Katie - and Zona, Nala, Faith and Mitten when they were around. For me, they're the essence of what SG can be - beautiful, funny, sexy, artistic, earthy, smart.
Have you ever had a time when everything seems to be ending - of its own accord? Relationship, job, lease... all falling away.
