Took the kids to the woods today to walk the dog and frolic in the river on this hot day. While moving downstream, we noticed a duck acting peculiar. At first we thought maybe it was trying to eat something, or that maybe it was sick the way it was flopping around and twisting about. As we got closer I noticed that it might actually be stuck on something. I had two of the kids hold the dog back, while my youngest boy and I moved slowly towards this duck. As I thought as came upon it, it's mouth was caught on a fish hook that was weighed down by a metal weight. The duck freaked out at first, for obvious reasons, but in calming voices my boy and got it to calm down long enough for me to remove the hook that was stuck in it's tongue. After I removed the hook, the duck flew away. And I didn't leave that hook there in case you're wondering, I took it home and disposed of it properly. In the end, the kids were pretty excited that they were able to help this duck and rescue it. A good day overall. by Bleakronin
