I was on SSRI's for about 5 years. Then in September I had to stop taking them due to a change in copay. I can say that most days while I was taking the meds the thought of killing myself occured multiple times a day. I had heard that SSRI's were known for having this effect but thought it was a bunch of BS. However, since stopping the meds the thought only occurs maybe once per week.
Perhaps, a med that works in a different way would be helpful. (I'm assuming your taking an SSRI since they are the most commonly prescribed.)
