Siddhartha is my prophet... When I say prophet, I mean by definition as in, "A person gifted with profound moral insight and exceptional powers of expression." When I say Siddhartha, I mean the Buddha. Am I a Buddhist? No, not at this time. However, after looking inside myself and finding what my beliefs are, and reading some things about the life of the Buddha, Im genuinely interested. Just reading about his life alone has given me some insight and peace within my own life. Even if I never become a Buddhist, the insight I've gained in this short time, I know will have a lasting impact on my life. Ive learned to let go of certain things that have burdened me, and even managed to realize some of my own flaws. If not a prophet, he was no doubt an amazing teacher for which thousands of years later people are still learning and finding meaning to his teachings. I have tried to find religion before with no luck. The only thing I achieved was becoming agnostic when I used to be atheist. Although this might not be religion I'm finding, it's something to believe in, and that, is how IM finding spirituality....

the same thing happened to me: went from growing up Catholic, to becoming an atheist in my late-teens/early 20's, to now being agnostic. this all happened with realizing and accepting the spiritual side of life in general. the dalai lama helped me out with the process, as well as buddha.

good luck on your journey .... smile

My friend that passed recently was Buddhist and he was one of the absolute best guys I've ever had the privilage of knowing! Even when he died at 28, he had no regrets. I'm very envious. I haven't had faith or a belief system since I was a child. Not that it is bad though. One thing he taught me though was the old saying "Live life to the fullest." I believe that more than ever now. Having regrets suck ass and shouldn't dictate your life. There are others with a lot worse.
