Once again it's time for my monthly update. Winter in the Catskills is coming to a close I've been living here for the last 9 months working for CMS. It's been very exciting learning how to ride and understanding how the industry works. By job has largely consisted of filming and producing competition videos from our weekly events and writing stories for various websites. Sometimes it sucks freezing your ass off outside, but overall it's still pretty sick.

The highlight this winter was the Red Bull Snowscrapersevent in East River Park, getting to see the pros rip it up against the city skyline was pretty cool. 40,000+ people came out each day. I had no idea snowboarding was that popular in the NYC. I also enjoyed the travel around the region. We hold events at 5 different venues so it feels like each we are going somewhere new.

Hunter Mountain recently had their annual Latitude 42 Event, which I was invited back to DJ and that fun. I dropped a sick hip hop set during the rail jam finals to the 2nd largest crowd I've ever played. The weekly online radio show (Radio Johnson) certainly helps and is a lot of fun, but I don't get to react to a crowd. So it was fun to play on large outdoor stage while snowboarders and freestyle skiers ripped it up.

At the month, I'll be moving to Telluride, CO for the summer. I've gotten a job working for a music festival there and I'm excited about making the move. I've decided to drive out and make some stops along the way. I'm going to hit a few spots in Ohio, St. Louis, Kansas and Denver. After Denver I'm going to Copper Mountain to ride for a few days and to check our Nationals for USASA. After that I'm driving to Telluride where I'll be through June at the very least, but most likely the entire summer.

I've never driven past the Mississippi, so this is new frontier for me. Any suggestions on places to visit on my way to Denver let me know.

Too bad you won't be further south...you'll miss out on Texas. I'm not being sarcastic, either!smile

Colorado is as whitebread as it gets. I hope you have fun out there!

I did live in Texas for a year, in Houston. I have family out there, still. My favorite aunt lives in Austin, so I'd drive up lots of weekends and hang out with her family up in hill country or with my friends in town. Austin's a wonderful place-there's the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, delicious Tex-Mex food, and tons of great live music.love Houston's ugly and industrial but there's a lot going on culturally; it's a huge melting pot.

I bet you could support yourself for at least a few months with a Meet a Black Guy store out there.tongue
