Well, today was a pretty damn nice day.
Half day at work which was quick which is good as I hate my job with the firey passion of Hell. They STILL haven't sorted a date for me to start in my new department. It's only been...hmmm....2 months sinceI got this job? Idiots. They have 2 weeks to buck up their ideas or I'm out.
Aaaaanyway. Finished work, mum came and picked me up and we headed home. One of my nephews, Lewis, comes to our house every tuesday and a couple other days so my mum can watch him for a few hours while my sister works until they can get a nursery place for him that schedules to her working hours.
Anyway, Lewis is adorable [he's 3] and never fails to make me smile. He wanted me to take him outside so we could play with the remote control cars my dad got him and his brother for Christmas. I have soe lunch, we wrap up warm, go get the cars and realise the batteries are flat. Put them on to charge and then we go back outside to tidy the patio so we have space to race them.
We see the horses in the field across from us so we go over to visit Bogey, Clint and Mummy and feed them some carrot. Clint and Mummy ignore us so Bogey gets all the carrot.
We head back up to the house and my sister comes out and we ['we' = they...I don't do nature] plant daffodil blubs in pots. We make a pot for Lewis with 3 bulbs in it [because he is 3], 4 for Andrew, 1 for Ethan and 7 for Connor, and there is a pot for me and a pot for my sister, we have 4 bulbs each, and we sat mine, my sister's and lewis' pots together next to the front door. I took tooonnneeesss of pictures, a few of which I think look rather nifty so I might stick them on here and arse about with them to see what I can do.
Headed back inside to wash up and me and Lewis had a wee cuddle on the couch while he told me about his day['What was your favourite part about today, Lewis?' 'Eemmmmm...the sand. But I didn't play in the sand a nursery today' Riiiight...]
It's my mum's birthday today, so once she left with lewis, I set about making her a cake, which should really be known as the Cakes of Fail.
3 attempts at making a fucking sponge cake. The SIMPLEST thing ever which I've probably made in different forms about a bajillion times, and I had 3 ATTEMPTS!
The recipe I followed was clearly bollock. It told me to put 3 eggs in, so I put 2 large ones. cake didn't rise and was soggy in the middle.
2nd attempt I put 2 normal size eggs in. Barely rose a fraction and was soggy, but not as much as the first one.
Third attempt was made with a combination of Tom and Jerry and Thomas the Tank powdered batter as I had tun out of flour but this point so had no alternative, so my mum's cake is strawberry flavour with little rice paper Toms, Jerrys and trains all over it. Classy.
I am now in my room watching the wonder that is Channel 4, wanting Shameless to be on and talking to my boy on MSN. I should go put some clothes in the wash as I have nothing to wear to work. HUZZAH!

She's adorable really, although it was mildly terrifying finding her staring at me so.
