When it rains it pours...

For several years I tossed around the idea of learning how to ride a motorcycle. A few months ago I finally stepped up and registered for the four day class that is offered at a local community college. The first two days were all classroom, the thrid day was getting familiar with the bikes and riding around the range, the fourth day was to be practice followed by the final riding test. Essentially, if you pass the written test at the end of the second day and the riding test at the end of the fourth day, you get your motorcycle license and are free to ride. Lets just say that I am not going to be free to ride for at least a few more months.

I made it through the classroom sessions on Thursday and Friday evening without a hitch. I took the written test Friday before going home and passed with flying colors. The only question that I missed was about the state laws requiring two hands on the handlebars at all times. Apparently, having two hands on the handle bars at all times is a little more serious than the 10 & 2 steering wheel thing.

The only other time I had ever riden a motorcycle was when I was 13 years old. I was on my cousins farm riding a Honda dirt bike and lost control. When I came to, I was lying next to the barn that I had plowed into a few moments earlier. On Saturday I got to ride a motorcycle for the second time in my life. This time it was one of the women in my class that loss control. We were about 75% of the way thorough the class and were working on changing gears to increase speed. She must have hit third gear, started to lose control, and the bike started to swerve back and forth. She reacted to this by jumping off the bike. Thats right, she jumped off the bike. The worse part of the incident was that the bike ran right into the instructor that was teaching the class. About 10 minutes later the police, the paramedics, and the fire department were all on the scene. Between the rider and the instructor there were scrapes, bruses, cuts and a broken arm. Either way, the class for Sunday has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for the fall.

If it was not for bad luck, I would have no luck at all.

I really really hope you get the chance to try the lessons again! I think it would be such a great feeling of freedom to be able to ride when you wanted to, where you wanted to. Plus, i think you would look incredibly sexy on a bike! kiss
