Whoopah.
The emails have increased to nearly 35 women who are sick of living up to the facist Ani D subculture of lesbianism. I have noticed that a lot of the girls emailing me are punks too. One was a leather daddy. And a few are black. I hope a good mix of girls shows up to this and we can just hang out and have some coffee.
I have never organized any event before. I've maybe helped with flyer distribution, but there are some girls saying they are going to ride from out of town on the BART for this! The only LGBT thing i've ever organized is the LGBT board here on SG, and that's because O suggested it and I thought it was a wonderful idea. I can't even hang out at the LGBT club at my school because the dykes snub me there, too. So I hope that board is a sort of community for other girls who might be in the same predicament.
It cracks me up because I formed a mailing list of girls who said they were willing to go. And more girls are emailing me, saying they want to be "informed of upcoming events" like i'm a formal organization doing this. I mean, i'm just a chick who wants to meet other edgy chicks for coffee.
I have no idea what the average age or type of attendee coming will be. But that's what I like about this. It's so unpredictable, I have no idea how it will turn out. And since it is non exclusive, you shouldn't have a bearing on that anyway.
And even if only three people show up, meh. Screw it. I'll just hang out with a friend or two and sip a latte. At least I did my part. I've seen another group already on CL forming a coffee group. And many people are starting to post jokes about the stereotypes.
It's only a matter of time until this stupid subculture prerequisite is undermined.
My favorite email came from a girl that said, "Hey, I love house music and eating meat. I hope this works."
