WHOA! I know I just wrote a journal a couple of hours ago, but check this out! !!!!!!
It's all about two black holes in another galaxy that will collide sometime in the far, far future (like 200 million years). The astronomers think that when the two black holes collide, the entire fabric of space will be distorted.
I was so interested that I read another article about how scientists used to believe that black holes didn't move, but apparently one is moving at 250,000 miles an hour in the direction of our solar system! It won't get closer than 1,000 light years away, (also in the far future) but that still seems like a close call.
I want to know what causes a black hole. What happens if something gets sucked into one? What do you find at the bottom of it? Space is just...space, so if you get sucked into it and hurled to the bottom, where do you go from there? Do you go to anti-matter, anti-space?
And I wonder what will happen when those two black holes collide...what if they distort space so that distance is no longer an issue? The article said the distortion will affect the relation of distance to any two points.
If I wanted to jump to the end of the universe in a second, could I do it? And what if it affects time? Maybe in the future those holes collide and everything repeats itself, so I will be writing this journal over and over again.
I love astronomy...it really shows you how small our world and our struggles are compared to the grand scheme of things. I'm so surprised that with all of the other galaxies and planets we've found that we haven't found proof of other life yet.
I wish we had the power to travel faster into space and we could explore the universe...I want to know what is out there so badly. (I loved the movie "Contact" couldn't you tell?)

You and I are kindred spirits there! I really wish that the things that they do in Star Trek were feasible today!
I once read a story where the black holes are simply a door-way into another place in the galaxy. They bend space/time and you skip from one place to another.
If we have found evidence of other life, then you can be sure the gov't has squashed it. No doubt. Anything to continue holding power.
"Contact" was AWESOME!
the things that might connect different Galaxies are worm holes. Don't you people watch Star Trek?
oh and Mr Satan forgot to mention the Lava Men who hang out near black holes. You should beware of Lava Men.
