I grew up in Denver Colo--not much ever happens in Denver really--I had strived to create an intellectual scene growing up and never really managed the feat due to most people's inabilities to step outside the box. I would spend hours constructing mix tapes ...hand them out to friends and then watch their faces change into the look that said: Hey-great...I will only like any of this shit under about 3 circumstances: A) I hear it on "Indie" radio, B) it means nothing and has no substance and C) you do not rave about it.....so anyhow, I was thinking about the band mentioned above-they had come to the states for the first time ever and I was fucking jazzed....these guys play a mixture of Punk, avant jazz, and traditonal music...I bought tickets for about 10 people I worked with at the time....I tried to explain that under communism these guys were banned from playing and deemed anti-social by the state....and still the played...still they suffered for art....long story short...everyone I bought a ticket for left within 4 songs.....and I just got drunk and raged to the beats.....I only hope that some day...be it in my own tribe...or people I meet....that we can start to appreciate the freedom we have....and turn on our backs on the close minded indulgence that breeds oppression....This message was brought to you by the letter q and the bitter rotten mind of a fat lazy urban intellectual.....
