I picked this up from the library the other day, and have been really enjoying it. cocteau and his lover recreate the famous journey of around the world in 80 days--against the back drop of 1936 Euorope --This was during his declining years--which (haha) means that normal people could read it and enjoy it--taught prose, splendid description, and movement--now if only me and the tribe were in Rome underneath the quiet stars ....
"What is line? It is life. A line must live at each point along its course in such a way that the artist's presence makes itself felt above that of the model.... With the writer, line takes precedence over form and content. It runs through the words he assembles. It strikes a continuous note unperceived by ear or eye. It is, in a way, the soul's style, and if the line ceases to have a life of its own, if it only describes an arabesque, the soul is missing and the writing dies."
Jean Cocteau

other then that-I am eye deep in baby shit...and busted computer parts....but looking forward to Hallows Eve....
stay true people--we live in a world full of crooked assholes...

Thanks for the pumpkin love. Nice story 'bout the Cocteau trip, too. And now, a quote for you that pertains to your 'crooked assholes' remark, but not so much to baby shit up to your eyes.

"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."

Lincoln's First Annual Message to Congress, December 3, 1861.

Cheers!
