Yeah...Dunn...wow! I used to see him in Graham Connah's group when he lived in SF still. Sun Ra influence galore that band. He's really turning into quite the Downtown jazz scenester now.

Well, in music, I mostly blame it on the one band/ one songwriter phenomenon. Bands used to be pretty much all songwriters, all idea-people. Now, everybody n their grandma has a band, or side-project made on ProTools, so you don't find good ideas meshed into great interconnected, complex ideas as much anymore.
Plus, the bigger the money involved in art, the more people trying to make it safely palatable for profit.
