Working in a pub, you meet the most interesting people. A ship captain came in yesterday, 70 years old (with a 30 year old Oriental bride, but that's another story), grizzled in a way none of us will be, and we got to chatting. He told me how he ran away from home to sea when he was 14, and his first ship was a whaling ship. A fucking whaling ship. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite a Moby Dick ship with rowboats, harpoons and a Caliban, but still, it was interesting hearing somebody tell you firsthand about a profession that has pretty much ceased to exist in the first world. He told me about his ship taking grain to the starving Russain Bear in the 2nd World War, about sneaking hookers onto ships, and the odd bit of smuggling. The world will be a poorer place when he's gone.

Working there has also got me a new liking for the Dubliners. Awesome band



Watching the Dark Knight at the moment. Batman is kinda loose with his secret identity in these films. He even lets a lawer who tried to blackmail him walk away at the end of it. Madness.

My rabbit has found itself a new territory. My bed. I'm less than happy about this.



I got my application form for uni accomomodation today. I've gleefully filled it it, but for somereason I have a sinking feeling it'll be less Playboy After Dark style party and more of the Young Ones squaller. Still, one remains hopeful
