I have been drinking for 4 hours, and since its not yet 4 oclock in Britain yet, thats probably a bad thing.

I also have to say sorry to all the people who have blogged on here recently, and I havent commented. I really should be a better SG friend.

I talked to a friend yesterday. No, a friend is too strong a word. I dont even know his name. Hes a bearded homeless guy, who sells the Big Issue in Cardiff. I know him, because I occasionally give homeless people money (and I dont really care if they use it on drugs) and have seen him around for years. He was telling me hes been beaten up over Christmas by 4 guys, and had had to have most of the muscle removed from his leg. He smiled at me, showing that most of his teeth were missing. He should have still been in hospital, instead he was standing, with a cast on, trying to sell indifferent people Big Issues in order to eat.

Dont we live in a first world society? There shouldnt be homeless people. There shouldnt be teenagers who cry under doorways. There shouldnt be middle aged men wearing rags. There shouldnt be women with tangled hair wrapped in cheap sleeping bags.

I dont even know this guys name. I dont know if or why hes homeless, only that he sells the Big Issue. I dont know this guys story, only that he has to beg for a living, no better than a street urchin in Mexico City or Calcutta.

We know the ins and outs of every worthless and forgettable celebrity in Britain. Can their stories and lives be as interesting, somehow more important than his? Is there some virtue they possess that proves they are better? Are they more worthwhile than this guy?

I dont know. The only thing I do know is that I will find out his name. Everybody deserves to be remembered, and I will remember him.
