I miss alcohol. This no drinking thing is killing me, so I've decided to write about what I'm missing, in an effort to get through it.

Red wine is almost the perfect drink. Perfect to enjoy with friends, or alone, or with a meal, or without. It's just so incredibly versatile, and a personal favourite of mine.

Guinness. Now I know there are those who prefer real ales from a real English pub. But Guinness is sold almost everywhere, and you can almost always get a good pint. And it looks so cool in a glass, especially next to a glass of larger. I recommend this for any serious social drinking.

Port. This is my current favourite. A decent bottle costs about a fiver, very tasty, and by the time you've finished it, you're nicely pissed. Hangover in the morning is a killer though.

Jack Daniels. An infinitely cool drink, with a taste that's every bit as manly as it's name. Perfect for watching westerns, as chasers, or if you're just in the mood to cause trouble.

Penderryn is a welsh whiskey, with a smooth taste and a beautiful looking bottle. Hard to find in a pub or club, and relatively expensive, it's just the thing for a night cap before bed.

Mojitoes are my summer cocktails, a fresh blast of mint and able to be drunk in vast quantities on a summers day. You're also able to do your best impression of Brian the dog (or Family Guy fame) while drinking them, "Mojitoesno, I don't think it's a gay drinkMojitoes."

White Russians are my winter cocktails. A smooth and creamy cocktail, it's also able to be drunk in vast quantities. I find it best to drink this one in your home, so you can make it just so. Pubs and clubs find it very difficult to get it right. It's also a perfect drink in the morning, getting rid of those nasty hangovers
