Mmmmmm...veggie tacos!
Shredded white and red cabbage, matchstick carrots, finenly chopped broccoli sauted in olive oil with fresh garlic, ginger paste, basil, cilantro, hint of thyme and truffle oil. Finish off with ground red pepper flakes and ginger sesame sauce on grilled, browned in butter flour tortillas. Eat and wiggle w/ joy. (Okay...the sauce was bottled, but what can ya do???? Improvise, improvise!!!)
God I love to cook!
Bone-deep damp rainy blue-green and dirty-dolphin-grey day. Too damp to continue painting the house, we decided. Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow. We have two weeks to get it all painted, everything packed here, and her moved in. I'm a good son! Feels really nice to let this sink in and to really know it.
Flipping through a giant, heavy, hardbound retrospective book on the paintings of Julian Schnabel. I don't know why American and English critics give this guy so much shit. Sure, he did once say "I'm the closest thing to Picasso that you're gonna get in this lifetime", but it's true. Jumping from style to style, medium to medium, each series informing the next, even if subliminaly, and looking back to mine the past work for new answers to newly discovered questions. "Hat Full Of Rain" "Zeus and Duende" and "Dawn View of the Tropics" are wonderful series paintings, in my opinion. Messy, yet controlled. Spontaneous and free, yet structured within their own bounds and devices. Yeah, theres a nod to Cy Twombly in some of the more abstract work, but they're friends...what can you do, seems inevitable. The old man's the godfather of his children, for chris'sake!
Anyway, having a nice chillin' day. Think I'll meditate and give myself a Reiki treatment in a little while. Got some packing to do later.
Anybody out there?
