Rant that maybe three people will give a fuck about, feel free to skip it:

In work news, whereas once everyone I worked with and their mom (almost literally) was telling me to reapply to keep working at the new lab after I get laid off, I decided I'd go for it. Finally!

And that decision was feeling like I was really doing something right, thought it'd be good for me to assume more responsibilities. So what I did was apply for what would basically be manager. Several people told me that I should do it, that I'd be perfect, that they thought I would do a good job, and complimented certain things about me and I really got to thinking that it would be good for me. Good for them too.

Then I found out that the one guy with more experience than me is reapplying. For management. Fuck. I mean, I love the guy and I KNOW he'll do a great job, but I really could have used the money.

Everyone walking around with their secrets.

They've talked to him once or twice, immediately after he reapplied. I reapplied over a week ago and I haven't heard a thing. I think they may not be considering rehiring me at all.

I've put in my time, and I've done a good job. Some fucking "thanks."

My roommate is a lovely person.

I'm using her computer right now. The tech still hasn't called to let me know what's wrong with mine or how much it'll cost to fix.
