My Unemployed Manifesto.

About six moths ago I was laid off from my job.

Losing one’s job is both scary and liberating.

On one hand is the fear.

The safety net is gone—that steady income we’ve grown so accustomed to. It allows us to live with comfort. We pay our mortgage, we pay for our cars, we go out for brunch on Sundays—we have a sense of security, financially.

On the other hand is the freedom.

No more desk, office, whatever tying us down! No more eight waking hours of my day sucked into oblivion (not to mention the extra couple hours of drive time back and forth).

So much rare, precious time is suddenly available!

The possibilities are endless.

weedfarmer:
@billiejoe I retired 2yrs ago at 55yrs old. And before retiring I paid my farm mortgage off. My retirement pays my bills, and leaves me broke. I need money, I have things I want, and things I like to do. So I started growing produce, and love it. And love setting up at the local farmers market. My main money maker is Sweetcorn. This year picked and sold a trailer load of Sweetcorn. Everyday in July. Now in September selling tomatoes cucumbers bell pepper and radishes. Going green with my farm t3 and T4FARM my parents farm t5 or Timberlakefarms. 6th generation beef cattle, and the generation to end livestock. All the livestock is leaving this month. Having a Black Angus Cattle Auction in two weeks. 207 free range grass fed cattle up for sale. I might cry, but I know I'm doing the write thing.

Came to follow you, and check out my page sometime. Always taking photos of my organic vegetable garden. And produce I take to the farmers market. I'm loving this so much, I'm thinking about building a greenhouse next year.
