A Day In The Life
A Story in Pictures
by Brendan

This is the epic tale of the day of Friday the 13, 2007. It was a day I'll never forget.
It started out pretty simple.
I got up.

I took a shower.

I checked the time.

I got dressed and went for breakfast.

I went back to my dorm,

got my computer out of my locker,

And went online to share a few moments with my friends. It was at that time that I was made aware that my dear friend and crush CynicismDirect was in the hospital in Chicago and that her prognosis at that point was very uncertain. I completely forgot to take pictures of anything as I desperately tried to comprehend the distress I was feeling, and to fight back the tears.
After gathering myself, I went for a walk, more determined than ever to document my day as it was a project for her in the first place, and I wanted for her to have something entertaining to read when she was feeling better. I had no doubt she would be, as she is a strong vibrant spirit who is not about to be rolled over by some goddamned skeleton with a scythe.

My first stop was at am ATM.

I walked down Barack street towards The Swan.

After a few turns, and a 20 minute walk I arrived on the outskirts of Kings Park.

From the East side Kings Park is approached by stairs.

After a while I stopped and rested. I meditated on this view for a bit,
sending whatever strength I could into the universe, hoping that it would find CynicismDirect and help make her well. I don't know if it worked, but I started to feel more positive, so i moved on: up more stairs.

Where I spotted some Black Cocutoos,

and enjoyed the view.

I moved on, and found a place to get a drink of water.

Then I went exploring,

and learned a few interesting facts.

I saw a tree with the heart burned out of it and split into at least 3 seperate peices, but still alive. It gave me hope.

I saw a sign that intrigued me.

I though "DNA Tower? Must be in the shape of a double helix."
I was right.

The view from the top was 360 degree panarama.

I moved on.

Stopping for lunch in the shade of some willow myrtles.

I was watched dilligently and at close range.

I took a piss.

Saw some tree climbers at work. In shorts! WTF? No saw pants for these mad-men.

I spotted some interesting fruit,

and a magpie.

I walked down a pathway lines with gum trees planted in honour of the fallen,

examined some massive thorns,

admired the man-made lake,

checked the time,

said hello to the black swans again,

And headed back to the hostel.

Once there I immediately checked for further updates on CynicismDirect's condition

and was pleased with the news. So I went back to bed for a bit.

When I awoke I was starving, so I went for really bad chinese food at an underground food court in Hay Mall.

Afterward I got cleaned up, put on my jeans and shoes and went out again.

I met Oedema

and her friend Jim

at a pub for a few beers.

In the end it wasn't as bad a day as it started out to be.

The End

Epilogue: CynicismDirect is out and flying back to Seattle as I write this. I'm looking forward to meeting her when she comes to OZ in August.
