So I was melding through my neighborhood and it occurs to me how much has changed without my knowledge.
I walked by the park where I have spent most of my childhood
this same park where so many revelations occurred
the same park where she slept from hands through my own doing
then I realized how much storybook childhood things I used to do
There is the chain linked fence I used to always find a stick and rake the stick across the links as I walked by
There is the embankment that I used to lay on as I picked honeysuckles from the nearby vine
There is the dog pen where I used to feed this dog my sandwich my grandmother would pack for me.
Then there is the neighborhood store, that has long since gone, but I used to walk to it everyday for candy.
I also realized that at 30 I have reached a landmark
It seems that when words leave my mouth the words are chased by the phrase, "I have done this for thirty years..."
Funny how things work out sometimes .
