I like the idea of online dating, I really do. That you can find the kind of person you're looking for without chucking darts at the board of randomness.
I think an article I read summed it up nicely, and it's a real catch-22 situation. Aside from there generally being more single men than women, there's also a problem intrinsic to online dating. Women get a great many emails, so sending one here and there to the women who interest you is a very hit or miss affair. Did your message of genuine interest get read? Or was it in the bulk of messages that was simply deleted?
Like the article I mentioned pointed out, is a lot of guys learn the only way to get responses is to play the numbers. Sending out lots of emails. But therein lies the catch 22. Guys send more emails to get at least some response, and end up causing (in the aggregate) the very problem they're fighting against.
So what's a guy who's not really interested in that approach to do? I'm beginning to think there is no recourse, and that online dating, is simply not worth the trouble, despite it's significant benefits.
What do you think? What's a guy to do?
