Wow. I'm sober now and things continue to come to my head from last night. SGATLiens's rule; there is now no doubting that at all. Here is the evidence:

Firstly, the area was fucking cool as hell. I had to go down to Atlanta mad early for the get together and it was so freaking easy to get to the East Side. Even for a rookie to ATL like me, getting from the bus station to the site was easy. But I had close to 4 hours to kill. What to do? Eat! I went to the Heaping Bowl And Brew and had the most badass meal I've had in a while. It's great to find great area places like that in the cities I go to nowadays. The 'Beans and Greens' there are the best fucking dish on the menu, bar none. I never knew beans and bitter greens could be done so incredibly in the tasty ass broth. Sweetwater beer with this and some pirshokies (sp?) made my meal. I so want take out from there more often.

So after eating, and killing a bucketload of time in the restaurant, I went to the lounge. I met everyone there that was there right on time, with me sitting there all sleepy and slightly tipsy. Twigtech met me first and we traded notes on a lot of stuff. Then eveyone else came in and it was nice to see so many of us come out. By the time they started playing music that could actually be danced to, I had switched to pineapple juice and Malibu rum. John Courage never had anything on coconut rum for breaking down barriers to talk to women.

But apparently, ESL wasn't that hot so we left for Lenny's about 12.45 with our designated drivers leading the way. Let me say now for the record: Lenny's was fucking awesome. I so wished a badass club like that was up in Connecticut and I definitely wish we had a club like that in Chattanooga. Mad people of all sorts were in there and it made me feel so good to not be the only brown kid in there. I met a lot more people there and switched to Newcastle for my drink. By about the third drink, mixed with some advice from the dudes in our crew, I finally got the courage to talk to a girl! Her name was Amy and she was seriously dancing like there was no tomorrow. She wasn't the prettiest girl there by a long shot but she just...she just lured me in with the skirt and the dancing. I introduced myself to her when she took a break and she really seemed interested in me. We were going to talk later, mabye when the club just closed down entirely but it was decided to go to one last place. So I had to leave before talking to her but I did get a half hug and the sweetest smile I've seen in weeks from Amy as I left. Self confidence - 1, self doubt - 0.

Azul was our last stop and I must say, I wasn't impressed. By this time it was close to 3 am and we were all drunk as skunks. The ride over was cool and the ride out was awesome but Azul just seemed a little pretentious for my taste. More pretty girls here but by then, my social and scene phobias had taken back over and I just drank some Red Stripe and went on with my wall watching. The ride to respective homes and cars, however was great but also a bit sad. I talked with the folk in the car I was in about the things that happened during the night and it was told to me that I stare at people. Kelly, one of the non-SG's there but a badass pimp none the less, told me that she was a little creeped out at first till she heard that I was both social and scene phobic and she did understand. But she also told me that girls find that creepy and that I needed to do something different about that. I'm going to write an entire entry about that little conversation in the car coming back from Azul in a bit but for now, let us suffice to say that it made me think all the way to the MARTA station to the bus and it made me think all the way home on Greyhound.

Overall, the night was an 8. The distance, lack of car, and price of transportation sucked and I didn't get any firm connections from girls I met at the clubs. Nevertheless, I met lots of badass people, found out the Atlanta scene is alive and well and open source (finally a crew where scene points are low enough to buy in!) and discovered that the SG ATL peeps are fucking badass all the time. All of them. I'm so impressed.

Now some shoutouts. First off, Llona - I doubt you'll know the impact of you giving me access to the ATL group but suffice it to say this: Last night was the first shot in the war to rid myself of my social phobia and get myself drunk and snuggled. Thank you for giving me the chance to prove myself and thank you for being a badass mofo. I am in your debt. Plus, I owe you a dollar. I'll get it to you at the Christmas party.

Next, to Twigtech, UltimateLewser, and Oryon: Gentlemen, I am awed. Ya'll are the reason why I got drunk enough to actually try and speak to people. Just knowing that there are others out there who speak my language and know my issues intimately made me feel like finally I had people to back me up whilst I made a fool of myself. To have that was awesome and I thank you. Also, the company we kept on the drives and the lulls was great. Geeks rule, and you guys all fucking take the cake. Huzzahs!

To everyone else I met, thanks for a great time and I hope to see everyone there and more at the Christmas party. I'll be bringing drunken cakes and frostings for eveyone! biggrin
