Wow, your experience reminds me of the time when I was 16 and got in a fight with this drunk guy on a corner in front of a liqour store. I *had* technically started it, but only because he made a derogatory remark about Asian folks. (Wtf, right?). I *had* to push him--I was so damn mad! 
He was a lot bigger than me too, and I ended up needing stitches in my head (only 2, nothing serious), but I pressed charges against him, and won!
