okay time for a real blog update.
so i have a roommate now, he moved in on monday. which is good i suppose.
he's 21, my house smells like boy whatever, a surfer, and dumb as a bag of hammers.
i don't deal well with stupid people.
he is nice, so we'll see how this little endeavor goes, but at least it makes my financial situation a little more bearable.
oh and apparently i have "a lot of kitchen stuff, like uh appliances and stuff" i guess a coffee grinder (he had to ask me what it was for), a coffee maker, blender, mixer, microwave and toaster qualifies as a lot of kitchen appliances shocked
oh to be 21 again! tongue

Last weekend was amazing.
My best friend (one of them anyway), who is my birthday twin and my sister from another mister, was in town, and her first night here we had some alone girly time, so i grilled some teriyaki glazed salmon, roasted some broccoli and we went through 2 bottles of cava and a half a bottle of pinot grigio! Work was not fun the next morning and I'm pretty sure I was still drunk when I went to work blackeyed (haven't done that since I was maybe 25-26).

Saturday and Sunday our derby league hosted a ref clinic, there were 30 some odd zebras and NSOs there, it was taught and run by some awesome WFDTA badass refs and NSOs, and was really amazing. I am going through this weird period of uncertainty now that I am back on skates. Although I want to compete, I really really LOVE the people I have met while officiating. Refs are under-appreciated, NSOs are like the red-headed step children of derby (also very under-appreciated), but the ref/NSO community is awesome! I have worked a bout every weekend for the past ummmm 8 weeks (I think) and I absolutely love all the people I have met and have been working with. So we'll see, I may try to compete for a season and then go back to NSO/reffing full time. Saturday night we had our final home bout for the season against Santa Cruz, and they kicked our asses, but after the ass kicking we received from San Diego, this one wasn't as bad, and it was like watching a much different, much better team play!!! biggrin After the after party my friend from Colorado and another friend who she was also visiting and I headed back to my place, drank another bottle and a half of wine and I made them watch the championship game from Western Regionals where Rocky Mtn Rollergirls beat the (previously) unvbeatable Oly Rollers!!!! We stayed up til 4:30 and I was back at the rink to open it for the ref clinic at 10:45, after that we had a private waay after party and watched Brutal Beauty, which in my opinion was mediocre at best (as far as derby documentaries go). It just felt like a failure at trying to do the same thing as Blood on the Flat Track did frown Regardless I still love Rose City, I just think their documentary could've been way better.
Monday I went to see Gogol Bordello play in San Diego, and they always put on an amazing show!
And then I rested, just like Yahweh on the 7th day!!!! tongue

This past weekend was another amazing weekend. Art and tattoo studio on Friday, met some new SG people. I worked a bout in North Hollywood for Angel City and they put me on as the Jam Timer *gasp* I was terrified, but I did pretty good and didn't totally suck (I only sucked a little according to Rocky and Hannah said I did great biggrin )! And today I met one of the girls from my league who made me a skirt for my halloween costume and sat down and had some coffee at Starschmucks:

biggrin Because nerdy chicks are awesome!

Now I finally have a day to catch up on blogs, do some laundry (I almost had to start wearing dresses), some light cleaning and spend some time painting, maybe even time for a movie tonight and dexter!!!

How's life been with you all????

Oh and this is one of my favorite bands to paint to (and a great song for this wonderful rainy weather we have been having)! Hope you love it as much as I do!

***Edited to add: Wow I really have a tendency to overuse emoticons! tongue See?

And here is another great band for painting, okay well a couple:

She is an amazing soundtrack! I first heard her stuff when I moved to boston in 96. I would be at the T stop with my little sony sport walkman on - cold, feeling the rumbling subway floor, sensing yet ignoring everyone, with her words in my ears. Some of my best moments happened in those in betweens. love is like falling/and falling is like this
