Went out last night with three friends to a sheesha (hookah) parlor a stones throw from work. Pricey place, but the smoke, food, and ambience were worth it. Huge place that was, surprisingly, full by nights end. I guess the weekend really does start on a Thursday especially when its a holiday weekend. We were surprised and entertained by the belly dancer who emerged to do her thang around the restaurant. She was wicked talented, though a little skinny for my tastes.

My friends are all good. One had family drama with people stuck in New Orleans (they are okay and evacuated now), another had severe cell phone issues, and another was dealing with a show that is totally not ready for its Oct. start date.

My friends show shoots three weeks in Tokyo and she bitched to me a bit about the business style of the Japanese (quite different from ours, yet somehow just as bull-headed and controlling as the L.A. industry folk). I related because the film production company I work for is Japanese. The big boss is coming to town next week, by the way, and Im the only one here to help prop up my bosses and make sure shit gets done. Lets hope I keep my wits about me.

Other than work, Katrina, and T-mobile, the topic of conversation last night was men/boys. Were all in various states of F them, except for A, whos excited about a guy she met on the e (that would be eharmony) for those of you who dont speak whitegirl gangsta. My designated hot, pretty, blond, former cheerleader/gymnast friend (who is also amazingly nice and cool) is nursing a crush on her boss, knowing she & he cant do nothin bout that one, at least not while theyre still working together.

Cute boys at the sheesha place, but they were all either too sketchy or too damn young (as in they shoulda been carded in order to smoke).

Looking forward to friends in town this weekend but currently waiting out the workday in the blank, sunny, hot, MATCHSTICK MEN valley. Sigh.
