On the 28 of june 1914, Franz Ferdinand was shot and killed on the corner of Appel Quay and Franz Joseph Street, Sarajevo, Bosnia. This cause tensions between Austria-Hungary and Serbia to boil over, Austria-Hungary invaded Serbia. Backed by an alliance with Germany. Russia moved to support Serbia by attacking Germany's eastern boarder, while the German army moved threw Belgium towards Paris. Various German colonies in the Pacific and Indian oceans were captured by New Zealand and Australia. German colonies fought their British and French counterparts threw out Africa. The world was at war.

Four years later, 91 years ago, a cease fire was accepted. "At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" The oposing armies withdrew from the trenches of the western front, what most of us think of about the first world war.

65 million people had been apart of the war, and 15 million had died.
And of the 50 million?
Claude Choules age 108
John Babcock age 109
Frank Buckles age 108

The Last surviver of the trenches, Harry Patch died age aged 111 years, one month, one week and one day, the 67 oldest man to have ever lived.

Why the poppy? because they grew well in plowed fields full of nitrates, bone and bloodmeal. Where the trenches stood, covered in the dead, blasted by nitrate rich explosives, plowed with bullet, barbwire, and boots.
