A lot of history is about it's context in the modern world, pyramids, roads, the systen chaple ceiling, david... I remember going threw a year and a half or more of my two year highschool history class
of people and places long dead or dust, then we covered the first world war. A war that ended before two of my grandparents were born. As part of the surrender agreement reparation were to be paid to france, britain, america... until 1984. So suddenly there was a tie from history into my short lifespan.
So rememberance day is about the 20 million who died in the first world war, the 40 million who lived threw it.
It's about the bones still pulled from farmers fields,
and it about:
Pierre Picault
Fernand Goux
Harry Patch
Claude Choules
Henry Allingham
Bill Stone
John Babcock
Frank Buckles
Netherwood Hughes
John Campbell Ross
