Wednesday - sitting in the cold sun on the out rigger of my crane, doing a crossword waiting for the next lift, when it occured to me that it was a VERY special day!
The Transit of Venus! Goddess of love!
So with true scientific endevour, started scouring the old machine for suitable materials to conduct the essential idiots viewing.
My rigger, god bless him, had a magazine with a sturdy cover - god bless porn, so the problem was solved!
I borrowed it from him, punched a hole with mu compass into it, and focussed the dear old sun onto the bland cream of my cross word. Great image!!
Confused rigger quoth!! "What the fuck are you doing with my mag?"
Distracted I replied, "You heard of the transit of Venus? Only happens about once every 170 years, it's what bought Cook down to Taihiti before he sailed on and found this great lump of rock"
Rigger must have only heard the first part, as his reply was, "Transit of Venus? must be a chick flick, never seen or even heard of it, now what the fuck are you doing with my mag?"
I nearly fell off the outrigger!
