I'm obsessed with names lately. More specifically I'm obsessed with how unimaginative we all are in naming both people and places. I love the fact that we're all named Michael or Chris or Jennifer or Susan or whatever. I love that we all pick out of a fishbowl of names that have been used again and again and again.
And I love that pilgrims got in a boat in the 1600's and sailed across the entire ocean and braved disease and hardship and awfulness and what did they name the place they land? Plymouth!! Where did they leave from? Plymouth!! Then they proceeded to name everything after places they just landed-NEW York, NEW Hampshire, NEW Jersey-new ENGLAND fer chrissake! show some fucking imagination!!! You just went through all of that to get here. come up with a new name! call it Fabulousland for all I care, but come up with something other than the name of the place you just risked life and limb to leave!
Anyway, I think that's funny.
