So yesterday I went to this wedding. It was for my old roommate Jasmine and I was actually really happy to go. I'm not really a fan of weddings, but Jasmine has traveled a long, hard road to arrive at some place in her life and this was the rare occaision that the ceremony of a wedding actually signified that. I love her and I'm happy for her.
However...
Jasmine spent a long time in Sapphic circles. She dated a woman named Valeria for a while whom everyone descibes as crazy. I don't know her, so I couldn't judge either way. But not only did Jasmine invite her to the wedding, she made her a bridesmaid. Apparently she thought their friendship was strong enough for this. Everyone else thought she was crazy since Valeria was obviously bitter that Jasmine was getting married.
Well I guess Valeria wanted to disprove those who called her bitter, and got up DURING THE BEST MAN'S TOAST and announced to everyone that she was really happy for Jasmine and Bo (Jasmine's now husband) and that as a surprise she was going to serenade Bo with Christina Augilera's "Candyman".
I'm not kidding.
Every face in the room was frozen between shock and polite smile as Valeria walked from her table to the bride and groom's table, began clappling her hands and dancing in front of Bo and singing "Candyman" accapella with a total desperate smile on her face.
it was one of the most awkward moments I've ever witnessed.
