Imagine my surprise when I landed in New Orleans for the weekend and I was the only guy not wearing a leather thong.
It was gay pride weekend in New Orleans this weekend. Sunday was parade day. I saw a LOT of hairy man ass. I saw lots of man nipples. I saw a lot of guys wearing just leather straps. Lots of drag queens. It was interesting. And a lot of fun. I was the only guy down there not making out with other guys. We watched the parade and got drunk on hurricanes at 2PM. We ran in and out of a dozen places on Bourbon Street-saw a Bon Jovi cover band (!), a few great jazz bands, soul bands, we went to this odd clubby place where there was a stage and an MC with a mic LIP SYNCHING ALONG to "Hot in Here". On a stage. And people were watching and reacting as if he were actually performing. So wierd. We did the electric slide in one place. My friend Megan sang "War Pigs" at karaoki in one bar (Which was met with blank stares by the southerners).
I love New Orleans.
