This weeks @bloghomework is all about movie reviews, so this week for @missy, @lyxzen, @rambo, and all you lovelies, I have a review for the most recent movie I've seen: Wet Hot American Summer.

I found myself repeating these three words almost the entire time: Oh. MY. GOD.

But, I mean it in the best of ways. Despite this movie coming out 14 years ago, and having a cast made of gold, I've never seen this movie. My boyfriend found the new Netflix series and was inquiring about it when I broke the news to him (he swears I've seen it before, but there could be a good possibility that happened when I was drunk, so...). I'm going to break my review into three parts: the cast, production, and the movie as a whole.

The Cast: Here we have a combination of Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Janeane Garofalo, Molly Shannon, and the voicework of Jon H. Benjamin; and that's just me picking out my favorite actors. This cast is huge, and seriously Jon H. Benjamin voices a can of fucking vegetables and it's just magical.

I have a stage five girl crush on Elizabeth Banks as well, so even though she was playing the promiscuous one all over the taken-Paul Rudd (but I don't blame her, he is definitely one of the finer things to come from KCMO), I still couldn't help but love her.

Amy Poehler is one of the reasons of how I came to be me today, because she is a straight up badass who takes no shit and only gives it right back to you, and she's pretty and smart as hell. But WHAS Amy? I never knew how much I needed her in my list of Amy-isms because she is the perfect bitch.

What I really loved, however, was the taking of the forever sexy Bradley Cooper, and the adorable awkwardness of Michael Ian Black and making them the sneaking-around-getting-married-at-the-lake power couple they were.

Production: Now, taking 50+ hours of editing and production classes in college, I can get turned off by a movie real quickly with terrible production work. I'm real glad to say I never noticed any problems with camera work, or the way it was put together. This movie is, however, a satire, so there were times when something would seem random, but it would always end up making sense.

The Movie: Comedies and satires are my favorite genre of movies, and with the few camping movies I've seen, this one hits the nail on the head. I like how this movie also had things in it most movies don't, or at least don't execute so well in this genre: the male-gay couple, a boy wanting a girl inside of him, the virgin adults, and the girls being more promiscuous than the boys. I know I'm missing a HUGE chunk of this movie in this little review, but even if I did hit every subject, it is a must see. I wanted to watch it again when we finished it the last time. I give it a 10/10, but I like what I like and hate what I hate, so don't take my word for it, but just watch it and laugh. And laugh. And laughandlaughandlaugh.

I'm gonna start making out with everyone like this from now on. Or maybe just Paul Rudd if I ever met him.

xoxo, Beats
