I went grocery shopping today for the first time in 2 months. I got tired of opening up my fridge and being able to see to the back of it.

The irony is that now I am too tired from working and grocery shopping to actually cook anything.

Ah well. That's why God gave us pot and the Simpsons season 4 DVD set.

I saw a movie on each day of the weekend.

Farenheit 9/11 on Friday with Jewlie, except I went to the bathroom at the beginning and when I came out I went into the wrong theater and didn't realize it, so I missed 20 minutes of that. But what I saw rocked.

Napoleon Dynamite on Saturday, which I thought was trying too hard, had no plot whatsoever, and was coping too much of Wes Anderson's style. But the girl I went with liked it, so I pretended to. I'm shallow.

On Sunday in honor of Jewlie's SGLA dodgeball game I went to see Dodgeball, which cracked me up and I wasn't even stoned. Rip Torn is the shit.

I am very much looking forward to this weekend, as it is the 4th of July weekend, which means barbeques galore. Being an East Coaster perhaps some of you Los Angeles people don't understand what this means. On the East Coast, we barbeque at the drop of a hat. I think it's because we don't have gorgeous weather 365 days a year, so when we're not buried under snowdrifts or in the middle of a monsoon, we like to be outside cooking meat. If my friends from back home lived out here with me, we'd barbeque every goddamned day. It would rule with a fist of iron, as the saying goes back home.

In Spider-Man related news, when I was at the post-premiere party I got to talk to Sam Raimi.

Me: Mr. Raimi, hi I'm Jason. I work over at Marvel Studios. Just wanted to let you know I loved the movie.

Sam Raimi: Oh you work at Marvel?

Me: Yeah, for Avi. And I just got a gig writing a Spider-Man comic, actually.

Sam Raimi: That's fantastic. I love your product!

Me: (not exactley sure how to respond to that) Uh... thanks...

Then he was pulled away by a swarm of people.

I searched the party, but alas, Bruce Campbell was not in attendance.

Speaking of the comic book, the pitch got approved by my editors, so I've moved on to step 2: the outline. After that comes the script and then they get someone to draw this mother.

And this past weekend I came up with a title, which was giving me a lot of trouble.

I got the Simpsons season 4 DVD and have been watching the fuck out of it. The commentary tracks are fantastic. The guys who write the show are so smart, it's scary. And Conan O'Brien is on one or two of them too, which makes it even more fantastic. Plus, all the Family Guy bashing cracks me up, cuz I hate that fucking show.

I've also been watching these import DVD's I borrowed from a friend of Raw and Delirious. What the hell happened to Eddie Murphy? He used to be fucking HILARIOUS. Beverly Hills Cop. Coming to America. Trading Places. Now he's in fucking the Haunted Mansion and Dr. Doolittle.

Come back Eddie, we miss you...
cineman:
Great update, Jason! Glad to hear your book is moving forward. That's really exciting news, man.

So when are we gonna have us another big ol' FL blowout? I am working on a few things but have been so busy since I got back that social planning hasn't been a priority.
