Man!! It doesn't take long for that pleasant feeling we all associate with the party season to swiftly subside. Have I had a stressfull couple of days?!!
Thursday was the real bum.
Totally housebound, I had the dutiful task of supervising my two year old daughter as she experienced life without nappies for the first time.
"Great" I think. "How hard can this be?"
And then I realise.
Like a ticking time bomb she runs around and around, refusing all of my requests to have her use her newly purchased potty.
Every time I ask if she needs to pee I get the same considered response...
"No"
By this point I'm feeling giddy. The inevitability of her having another sudden "accident" is too much stress to contain. The idea of the subsequent clean up job (of which there have been several) is sending me into a state of shell shock that is too much to bear.
I am incarcerated by the need to be near a toilet and a clean change of clothes.
HELP ME!
Through all of this my daughter is dealing wit the fact that she was kept up till midnight last night by her uncle (acting as babysitter). She is tired. I am grumpy.
My wife arrives home from the shops. She too is tired.
There is no going back now. For the rest of the afternoon we meander about the house.
My daughter fails to use the potty for the duration of the day
Somebody suggests Chinese food.
Yes!!!!
Straight away I volunteer to go and pick up our order. Anything to get out the house.
The drive to the resturant is bliss.
I live for moments like this. Just me and my car stereo.
I listen to Black Sabbath all the way.
I think about what an awesome drummer Bill Ward is. I love the way he sounds like he's always playing just outside his comfort zone, but he totally nails it every time.
And Tony Iommi. When I see him in pictures he always looks a bit geeky and kinda straight laced. It's hard to imagine him as the same guy that has written some of the heaviest and powerful riffs known to man. What a legend!!
After take-away food My wife and I feel much better. Bedtime eventually comes, followed by the next morning and up for work.
I managed to get some time during my lunch break to go swimming again (got to keep this fitness thing going!) It's was cool, I managed fifty lengths of the pool.
All the way through it I though about how many lengths I'd need to swim to cover the same distance as the English channel.
I'm gonna find out and make that my goal. To swim the channel (or the equivelant) Hahaha.
As soon as its done I'll let you know!
Thats all from me for now. Have fun and take it easy.
Laters.
