I had made a promise to myself that I wouldn't update my journal until I had finished my 2004 retrospective. It's not that it's that long, it's just that I keep not writing it. Sorry.

Anyhow, the weather has forced me to update. Really, it's insane. A meteorologist on a radio program remarked that "the worst weather in the country right now is in Los Angeles," and "it's like there's a radar bullseye centered on LA county."

Earlier today, our street was underwater. This is especially problematic for us, because our front door is on the sidewalk. We don't have a porch or a yard, but just a two or three inch high concrete bump between our door and the sidewalk. That lip looked a bit too much like the bank of a large pond or small lake for our tastes, so we actually went to buy sand bags. Sand bags! In Long Beach!

Luckily, the storm drains got cleared out and the water has receded (for now), so now the only things we have to deal with are the leaks in our roof that suddenly appeared after weeks of rain.

Oh shit. This is the radar now, at 6:26pm PST. We're under the last "n" in "Santa Ana.":
