I like trance.

There, I said it. I feel better now.

Seriously, I've always liked trance, as long as it's been called trance, and as much as it's changed over the years, I still like it. And I find it odd that even at this stage in my life I'm apprehensive about people trying to define me by the music I listen to. So I'm done turning off last.fm when I listen to trance.

It's not the only thing I listen to (hell, it's not even the only electronic music I listen to), but nothing makes me feel like dancing as much as trance does, and even though I don't dance anywhere near as much as I used to, I still enjoy feeling like dancing sometimes. It's just that electronic music snobs are some of the most aggressively elitist assholes in the music world, and the disdain for trance is unbelievable.

That's not to say there isn't a wide range of good and bad trance out there. But hating on trance as a genre is like hating on hip hop as a genre. It just doesn't make any goddamn sense unless you're unreasonably generalizing.
