My mom accidentally moved to Afghanistan for three years. And by accidentally, I mean, she didn't entirely mean to become a full time resident. Other major life events happen by accident all the time. People get pregnant. People get addicted to drugs. People fall in love when the timing's not right. So there it is.

My mom's mom was in the hospital this weekend for a heart attack and we weren't really told about it until Sunday. She's okay. I'm starting to realize that my master plan-- to learn Tagalog so I can gossip with my lola in her native language --is going to need to happen sooner as opposed to later.

My brother, the BB, plied me with tequila shots late last night to help me fight this cold. So far it's a close battle. (Tequila: 4; Cold Virus; 6) I love that guy, even when his homeopathic remedies aren't 100% effective.

My father is turning 60 on Thursday and shares a birthday with Imagoldfish (she's not turning 60). My brother and I went to Spokane for the weekend to help him celebrate. We made him blow out candles on a cake and he made a face like he was five years old. He was a little weirded out about my mom moving to Kabul on the DL.

It was an intense weekend. But at least I got to take home an awesome hat. I'll give it back to my mom when she gets back...
