We met walking west on Chicago. He was in town from St. Louis for a show. "Rancid. Have you heard of them?"
It would have been funnier if I'd said no. It was two in the morning and most respectable bars in this town were closing. But it was his 22nd birthday and I was still itching for a drink, so I asked him if he wanted to stop by the Rad Bachelor Pad. You know, just a birthday drink, for the kid. He said yes and the next thing I knew it was four in the morning and I was fielding his phone calls, "Um.. he's busy right now, want me to take a message?"
The best part, of course, was that I was wearing a suit. My inner punk rock is that hard core, bitches.
In sadder news, my lovely T-rex, my Kaiser Soze, imagoldfish had her fourth knee surgery the other day and is languishing away in boredom and painkillers. I'll do my part and try to visit and keep her company. You do your part and send her dancing fairies to help her recover.
