sometimes, late at night (like right now), i wonder about the choices i've made in life, and how the ones that seem most like marvelous adventures at the moment of their making turn out to be the most momentous decisions of them all. joining a frat. quitting school to move to california and work for sega. deciding to move to australia without ever having set foot on the continent. leaving new york after six months to help my friend open a club which stayed open for, uh, six months.

i often wonder similar things... how my life would be different had i not decided to go to cooking school at age 16. it's best not to wonder... the bay area is great like that. nearly everybody moved here or stayed here because they're bright/talented (thus they like the culture and beauty), but unambitious (why move to LA or NYC? ...just have to deal with more bullshit). and the bay area is a nice place to live.
