It is the details that things can stumble. (or is that where the devil lurks?)

If you get an email on Thursday that says "I'm going to San Diego. I'm busy this weekend, but maybe next weekend we can get together..." does that mean 'the weekend after the weekend in San Diego is the busy one? or the San Diego weekend is the busy one?"

The tubes that connect San Diego to the Internet probably got busted. (California is such a third world country after all, it is possible) Or I could have gotten the timing wrong and she meant next weekend...

Anyways no reply. No follow up. and (sad monkey) no date last night. Ironically in a string of cancellations, there is also no dim-sum this morning either. For a weekend that was on the cutting edge of kick ass, I'm 0 for 2 so far.... There must be something in the water. There's been a batch of 'yeah let's get together' and no follow up emails/explanations when I get left at the altar. (maybe I shouldn't be planning marriage so quickly?) Oh wait. I'm not planning marraige so quickly. It is just a first date, after good email communication. Of course my last first date was with the 'shy girl' who didn't make eye contact the whole time and has not been in contact with me since then. (that was the 4:00 friday date which ended by 5:15 for those keeping score!) Well if this hasn't turned into a whiney bbitch self centered post about sorrow and angst. yeesh.

I followed instructions in a cookbook though and do have sushi rice ready for the extravaganza that is Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift with sushi, Saki, and other foods. The fish monger at Wholefoods warned me not to touch the frozen 'sushi grade' tuna with wet hands. "this is super frozen!"

The menu:
-Chicken Teriyaki
-Chicken curry in coconut sauce (more Thai than Nippon but muh)
-cold noodles, cucumber and vinegar
-warm noodles and vegetables (more pinoy than Nippon but again... muh)
-avocado, tuna salad with ginger dressing
-raw fish delight
