A UNICEF report on Children's well being has concluded that out of 21 counties in the western world, GB came bottom of the pile, the UK's children had the worst relationships with their parents, they were also rated the poorest, and most undervalued, unsafe, uneducated and had the worst diets and therefore the most obese and unhealthy.
A caller on a radio phone- in advised, children in Holland, are taught from a very young age to speak and stand up for themselves, and therefore have high self esteem and high confidence, bit cocky at times but maybe the way forward, compare this with the UK still far to much children must be seen and not heard we still live in a Victorian past, we have all been the victim off such nonsense
Another problem deriving from our seen and not heard problem is some problems in adults start in their childhood.
Other callers advised mothers are undervalued, teachers are asked to plug gaps in children's lives, now they have to advise children on diets, and manging their money. Some blamed the lack of extended family and parental guidance, others blamed Thatcherite polices, were all individual now, and must look after ourselves sometimes by any means possible.
Amid to contrey believe we are now drawing in a sea of youth crime.
Off course the Government tell us, the data used in the survey is out off date, mmmmm maybe they are out of date.
